The sport event was organized in Gdańsk and involved three secondary schools. The main aim was to promote less popular sport and, in particular: crossminton, goalcha and flag football.
The sport event organized in Gdańsk on the occasion of the Children’s Day based on the project toolkit for PE teachers titled “Promotion of less popular sports”. Three participating secondary schools: the Automotive School, Sport Secondary School and The Centre of Vocational and Continuing Education No 2 presented new sport disciplines: crossminton, goalcha and flag football. In accordance to ethical principles the selected sport disciplines were adequate for students of different sport skills and psychomotor abilities which created equal opportunities for every student to take part in the competition.
The sport event attracted over 100 students, several teachers of different subjects and guests (parents and sports fans from the neighbourhood Lower Secondary School No 10).
After welcoming speech by the directors of the host institutions, the school coordinators – PE teachers explained briefly the rules of goalcha, crossminton and flag football with accompanying short presentations. Then, the games were played simultaneously on the playing field
The students enjoyed the event, appreciated the new sport disciplines and the possibility to make friends with peers from other schools.
The sport initiative was preceded by an art contest, organized by the Automotive School, to design a logo or poster promoting the sport event. Award ceremony for the art contest winners and all the sport players was a nice closing accent of the event.
