promotion of awareness of importance of sport at school level
Description of the initiatives:
The organiser of the event is The National Handball Federation of Romania. The Championship for Juniors it is a public initiative which takes place every year where teams from all over the country are competing to win the title. The competition is divided into six or eight groups composed from eight teams from the same region. Every team is consists of players of the same age. In the group stage all teams play with each other and the first four teams are qualified to the semi-final tournament. At the end, the best eight teams qualify to the final tournament divided in two groups. The first two teams of each group play in the semi-finals, then the teams who lost the previous matches play for the third and fourth places and the winners for the first and second but only the first three teams get a medal. This competition promotes the importance of doing sport in school and stimulates the children by giving prizes and making them believe that the sport could be a job in the future.
