Two sport events have been organised in Finland on a national level together with The Cultural and Sports Association of Finnish Vocational Education and Training, SAKU. The aim of the sport events was to promote sports and healthy life style by offering equal opportunities to practice sports and to involve those students who are not active in sports.

Description of the event:
The first sport event took place in Espoo in a big sport park in April, 28th 2016. A street hockey tournament was organised. Omnia vocational logistics department organised the tents and other items for the tournament. The staff of the City of Espoo Sport department made sure that the courses and surroundings were in good shape for the event. Ms. Päivi Saari from Omnia together with other teachers fetched the lunches for the students. The marketing students had a tournament office at the site and they took care of the overall timetable and arrangements. Ms. Petra Hämäläinen was responsible for the whole organisation of the event.

The participants involved were: 65 players, 13 staff members, 40 cheering students + college priest for a total of approximately 120 participants.

There were approximately 105 vocational students involved from different vocational fields from Omnia. The fields were business and administration, practical nurses, plumbers, electricians, caterings, vehicle, construction and maintenance.

The teachers and school directors involved in the organisation of the event were PE teachers, vocational teachers, project staff, training managers from different vocational fields. The main toolkit used to organise the event were the ones for all teachers.

The second sport event (SakuSports event) was organised at Kisakallio sports institute in May 3rd and 4th, 2016, were students from different vocational schools in Finland. SAKU made the national invitation for the schools and Omnia vocational school used its own channels to recruit students and teachers. Omnia emphasised especially on recruiting those students who are not so active in sports normally or who do not have the opportunity to get involved in sports.

As a result there were approximately 40 students and 4 staff members from Omnia attending the event. Altogether there were almost 150 students participating in the event.
