CASE STUDY

The Context:
-When and how your passion for sport started?
My passion for football started very early because my parents brought me every weekend to see the team of Mouscron. But it is thanks to my godfather that I started in a club (Excelsior Mouscron).

-Who and how supported you (teachers, parents, friends, etc.)?
My parents wanted my studies to be a priority.

-Do you think that sport help to better relate with others?
I think sport improves relationships.

-Do you think that sport infrastructures of your school are adequate?
In my school, the infrastructures are rather good, although they are small and dilapidated.

-What do you think about Physical Education at school?
I think physical education at school is essential.

-Do you think that young people are encouraged to practice sport in your country?
I think we could be better encouraged.
Balancing Sport and Education:
-How many hours per day/week do you dedicate to sport?
I dedicate about one hour and a half per day to sport.

-How many hours per day/week do you dedicate to studying?
Outside classes, I study one hour per day.

-Please describe the successes you achieved in your sport activity
I won the Belgian cup when I was younger.
I have played several times in Mouscron B team.

-Please describe the performances of your school career
At school, I passed all the years and finished with a “good” distinction.

-What kind of impact did the sport had on your school career?
It helped me destress and exteriorize.

-Do you think that your school performances would have been better without the sport activity?
No, because without football I could not convince myself to study, I would be lazy.

-What kind of solutions did you identify to balance the sport activity and the school career?
My solutions are: healthy food and an adapted pace of life.

-Do you have any suggestion to achieve a better balance between school career and sport activity?
My suggestion is to better manage sleep.
Future Perspectives:
-Which are your plans for the future? Sport, university or work?
My projects are to succeed my studies in physiotherapy and to play at a high level… even though very few people succeed.
