Partners' Institution:
OMNIA
Project's period (from/to):
01 January 2015 - 31 December 2016
Objectives of activities carried out:
The Phase 2 "Creation of the Toolkits" aims to provide the target groups with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute to the promotion of awareness of the importance of sport at school, to the social inclusion at school through sport, to an ethical approach to sport, to a better knowledge of all sports.

The project partners will cooperate in the development of three toolkits.
1) The first toolkit will be addressed to physical education teachers in secondary schools.
The toolkit will contain guidelines and teaching sources on the following topics:
- Strategies to motivate students who are usually not involved in physical education activities.
- Sport as a mean to promote social inclusion.
- Promotion of an ethical approach to sport.
- Promotion of less popular sports

2) The second toolkit will be addressed to teachers of all subjects in secondary schools.
The toolkit will contain guidelines and teaching sources on the following topics:
- Strategies to motivate students who are only interested in sport to successfully balance study and sport.
- Strategies to integrate sport and healthy lifestyle approaches into the students’ educational pathways. This may include how to teach curricular lessons through sport related activities (e.g. Trekking for scientific lessons, Sport events to teach history or culture etc.)
- Strategies to use sport as a mean to promote the acquisition by students of transversal skills (e.g. communication, learning to learn, entrepreneurship etc.)

3) The third toolkit will be addressed to school directors.
The toolkit will contain guidelines on:
- The importance of promoting sport at school.
- Integration of sport into the curricular activities
- Sport as a mean for social inclusion
- Balance sport and study at school
Description of activities carried out:
A network event organised in Omnia by a cooperation of the physical education teachers of Omnia (Petra) and two upper seccondary schools in Espoo. The participants were representatives, coaches and directors of many sport clubs in Espoo. The theme of the meeting / event was the improvement and reinforcement of the cooperation between schools and sport clubs / coaches. How to help the athlete students to balance sport and school. Group discussions were carried out and as a result we received a great number of ideas, recommendations and good pracitces for the NOFP toolkit. The project was also presented by Kati and Petra and all participants were invited to join the networks. Informative e-mailing was sent to all afterwards. The event was organised on September, 30th, 2015 in Espoo.

Continuation of the work on the recommendations for the toolkit that Inforef had started. Communication via e-mails with Inforef regarding the work and outcomes.

The English version of the toolkit for teachers has been created and finalised together with Inforef.
Both toolkits are ready and most of the texts are translated into Finnish and published on the website.
1.3-30.6.2016: All texts are available in Finnish in the Project website.
Dissemination has been made related to the toolkits in many events and seminars in Finland.
Outcomes:
First ideas for the toolkit from the meeting in Omnia.
Continuation of the work that Inforef has already started.
Teachers' version accomplished.
Both versions are accomplished and most of the texts have been translated into Finnish.
All texts are available in Finnish.

This task is acclompished.
Evaluation of the work undertaken:
The work has just started and we hope that the overall outcome will not be too long for the translations. This phase is very interesting and we do hope that we can publish "the real voice" of the agents in the field of sports and education, like we just heard on September, 30th.

The cooperation with Inforef was very useful and good. We used the Google Drive as a common place for writing and editing the text and it was a good tool for that. It might be good to use it together with all partners for some writing tasks as it enables us to see what other partners are doing.

It would have been useful to use a common online portal / work area like Google Drive together with all partners. Now the outcomes are quite different and we did not achieve a coherent result as a total.

The toolkits have been presented to many target groups, e.g. vocational teachers, teachers of other subjects ( like language teachers, healthy education teachers etc.), PE teachers and to others interested persons. The managers are also aware of these materials.
