Description of the initiatives:
Welfare of the Learning Environment is a model that aims to improve wellbeing in vocational education. The basis of Welfare of the Learning Environment -model is the leadership. Without education providers commitment it’s impossible to improve wellbeing of the learning environment. The commitment of the leaders and common principles are the basic conditions of success. That includes that the main goals and functions are written in the schools welfare policy that covers for example both the resourcing and organizing. Implementation of learning environment’s wellbeing requires multi-professional co-operation in implementation, support services and contents of teaching.
Education organizing is described in vocational education’s Welfare of the Learning Environment -model in the view of health and well-being. Education provider can apply the model according to their needs and welfare program. In short, the model contains four sections:
Leadership:
• Welfare is part of the organisations main task
• Promoting the health and well-being is written on the education providers’ strategies and curriculum.
Implementation of Teaching
• A healthy work community is a supporting structure to healthy learning environment.
• Working methods pay attention to different learning styles and individual needs.
• Learning methods support student’s participation
• Learning environment contains different kind of environments that promotes learning - inside and outside the school.
The Contents of Teaching
• A student gets sufficient knowledge and skills about work ability, health and welfare.
• A student absorbs key skills for the life-long learning
Learning Support
• Education provider provides sufficient learning support services that include social, psychological, health and welfare services.
• Cooperation with the student's circle of acquaintances
• Cooperation with the surrounding communities
