Description of the initiatives:
The project was implemented by Municipal Authority of Łódź City, Łódź University, Polish Ministry of the Interior, Polish Ministry of Sport and Tourism, with the German and English partners, in the framework of the EU Programme - Fundamental rights and citizenship.

It was held in the city of Łódź, in the period 2010 -2011, followed by annual editions of the local secondary school competition, organized as follow-up activities (last edition 2014). The beneficiaries of the project were teachers, students and all the actors of the educational area.

The project aims to combat racism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism by promoting fair play attitude for tolerance of other cultures, religions as well as to prevent violence among youth, develop of the conduct in the spirit of fair play in everyday life and peer relationships.
The project also strives to promote sport as a form of leisure activity and provide the inspiration for students and teachers to take their own educational initiatives.

The project activities included:
1. Organizing a conference „I am fair – stop violence-start tolerance”. Participants: teachers of the city high schools, representatives of governmental and local authorities, academic environment, associations and NGOs, municipal police officers. The meeting was combined with workshops for teachers.
2. Carrying out the survey among students of 31 public secondary schools in Łódź concerning the fair play attitude in relation to sport and everyday life. The retesting action was accomplished again after the completion of the projects in schools.
3. Implementation of educational projects in four secondary level schools. The undertaken activities contained the following components:
• 2 workshops conducted by teachers in their schools according to their own project on issues of tolerance, anti-Semitism, racism, etc. meetings with sportsmen / women and referees
• 2 workshops conducted by teachers in their schools according to their own project on fair play in sport and in everyday life and in peer relationships
• the theater performance, debate (or other form) prepared by students for the school community
• the art contest (e g. design of the flag for the project) or literary competition in schools about the fair play rule addressed to all the school students, followed by the school exhibition
4. organization of sport tournament in each of the participating school accompanied by the fair play contest
5. selection of the football team, which represents the city of Łódź in the international tournament, organized in cooperation with the foreign partner cities
6. The edition of the publication containing the conclusions of the project, the results of research, best practices, which could serve as a manual for the PE teachers.

The project evaluation confirmed the need for continuation of the program and extend the number of participating schools. Annually the contest of secondary schools in Łódź is organized, involving an increased number of students and teachers in that interesting and fruitful initiative.
The transfer of Olympic humanistic values in an educational system helps to eliminate violent behavior, alleviate emotional tension, teach the art of losing, coping with failure. The idea of fair play is an universal value that allows to understand “ the fair attitude” to ourselves and to the others, whether it is on the pitch, at the stadium or in everyday life situations.
