CASE STUDY

The Context:
When and how your passion for sport started?
Two years ago, thanks to two friends.

Who and how supported you?
My parents. They helped me with the enrolment process and to join the training centre.

Do you think sport improves relationships with others?
Yes, because you are not isolated, you open to others, you meet new people.

Do you think that sport infrastructure of your school are adequate?
Yes.

What do you think about Physical Education at school?
It is good for people who don’t do sport outside school.

Do you think that young people are encouraged to practice sport in your country?
No, really not, the bare minimum is done for sport, the infrastructures are not well maintained and there are too many obstacles for athletes who are the future of Belgian sport.
Balancing Sport and Education:
How many hours per day/week do you dedicate to sport?
+/- 12 hours a week

How many hours per day/week do you dedicate to studying?
1h30 a day.

Please describe the successes you achieved in your sport activity
Improvement on the personal level (technical) and being part of something bigger.

Please describe the performances of your school career
The results are identical, except my participation is lower because I am more tired.

What kind of impact did the sport had on your school career?
None.

Do you think that your school performances would have been better without the sport activity?
No, they remain the same.

What kind of solutions did you identify to balance the sport activity and the school career?
To work at least a bit every day.

Do you have any suggestion to achieve a better balance between school career and sport activity?
Not particularly.
Future Perspectives:
Which are your plans for the future? Sport, university or work?
I would like to do an Erasmus stay in Australia and combine studies and sport.
